The advent of cleaner vehicles, exemplified by electric cars, has become noticeable on roadways. Nevertheless, the predominant mode of transportation still relies on fossil fuel-powered vehicles. Transitioning to cleaner vehicles entails additional effort for their utilization. Such voluntary endeavors resulting in mitigating CO2 emissions on the road ought to be incentivized to foster sustainability.

The primary rationale behind the development of GoGreener lies in the introduction of CO2 Emissions Avoidance. Through GoGreener, individuals can accrue carbon credits, termed as 'CO2 Emissions Avoidance,' by actively participating in efforts aimed at curtailing CO2 emissions during their travels.

Such efforts encompass the utilization of low CO2 emissions vehicles, including electric cars, bicycles, public transportation, and similar alternatives. The purpose of the introduction of CO2 Emissions Avoidance is to provide incentives to users for their efforts to mitigate CO2 emissions on the road.

CO2 Emissions Avoidance is a hypothetical estimate based on the movement of vehicles with low CO2 emissions on roads within GoGreener. This concept is introduced based on the assumption that switching to low-CO2-emissions vehicles avoids CO2 emissions on the road compared to fossil-fueled ones, thereby leading to a reduction of CO2 emissions in the transportation sector." It applies only to cleaner vehicles such as electric cars, bicycles, or mass public transportation.

CO2 Emissions Avoidance will utilize the CO2 emission factors associated with gasoline-powered passenger cars. These factors may vary among countries; however, for the purposes herein, an average of these factors will be employed for calculation.

It is recommended that GoGreener should not be used for fossil-fueled vehicles. Furthermore, any false or misleading selection of transportation mode may result in the revocation of your CO2 Emissions Avoidance and Adjusted CO2 Emissions Avoidance.

GoGreener is straightforward and intuitive, making navigation effortless for users without the need for additional explanations. To create entries, simply click the 'New Entry' button in a tab called 'My Ledger,' and it will initiate your trip for CO2 Emissions Avoidance.

You will select your transportation mode and initiate it when you begin your journey on a road. GoGreener will then track your trip using GPS and the mobile network. Upon reaching your destination, it will calculate CO2 Emissions Avoidance based on the trip distance and create an entry for CO2 Emissions Avoidance.

To encourage the use of bicycles, public transportation, or walking, a weighting system was implemented for these transportation modes under the name of Adjusted CO2 Emissions Avoidance. For example, one hour of biking is equivalent to four hours of driving an electric car in terms of earning the same amount of CO2 Emission Avoidance.

In GoGreener, there is a section called 'group project' where individuals can join collaborative efforts and contribute their entries. This feature allows users to simulate the displacement of CO2 emissions from one location (A) to another (B), a concept commonly employed in the pursuit of carbon neutrality, often referred to as 'Net Zero.' When the group project's target is achieved, participants will receive a reward for additional Adjusted CO2 Emissions Avoidance based on their individual contributions.

Carbon neutrality is the concept of achieving a balance between the amount of CO2 emissions produced and the amount removed or offset from the atmosphere.

GoGreener is one of our apps designed to contribute to this goal in creating an ecosystem known as the 'voluntary market,' wherein individual users can participate in efforts to mitigate CO2 emissions for incentives.
