KTime Sailing for PC

KTime Sailing is a sport tech start up dedicated to sailing, both racing and cruising. The main objective is to provide sailors with statistics of their sail in an engaging and integrated way. These statistics are kept in the sailor’s Log Book for future reference and include top speed, average speed and distance sailed. In addition, for racing, the sailor has access to a Start Timer (5 minute countdown) and the ability to see Distance to the Start Line. The sailor simply sails past the Committee Boat and Pin ends of the start line, presses a button to capture the locations and then automatically sees Distance to the Start Line. When the Start Timer and Distance to the Start Line are used, the sailor also sees statistics on their speed off the line and how far from the line they were at the start. All automatically kept in their Log Book for future reference. The GPS signal of the phone is used to track the sailor, so a strong signal is required. The GPS accuracy for each sail is also shown, so that sailors can compare which devices in which locations provide the better accuracy. The idea for KTime Sailing evolved from a start timer that provided time to burn or time to kill – the time a sailor needs to lose before heading to the start line. To keep the name short, we reduced time to kill to KTime! Look out for future developments and functionality based on feedback from sailors.
