Xiaomi Buds 4 Pro guide for PC

Alongside the launch of the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro smartphones, Xiaomi also introduced a new pair of true wireless headphones – the Xiaomi Buds 4 Pro.

Following on from the Buds 3T Pro, which were released last year alongside the Xiaomi 12 Series, the Buds 4 Pro promise an upgraded design, improved noise cancellation and better battery life.

However, perhaps most notable is their price. These buds will cost £240/€240 (Xiaomi doesn't ship to America), pushing them past the cost of some of their biggest rivals and making them the most expensive Xiaomi buds that we can remember. Do they justify their price tag? Here's our review.

The Buds 4 Pro combines great audio with a very comfortable design and solid battery life. But plenty of cheaper buds deliver these too, and there are compromises in other areas.

These days, pretty much every leading smartphone company has started making wireless earbuds.

It makes a lot of sense: earbuds pair directly with a phone via Bluetooth, and are an easy way to begin building an ecosystem of related products that are designed to work together.

Xiaomi has been in the wireless earbud business since 2018, shortly after the company expanded its operations into Europe. But none of its releases have been quite as expensive as the £239.99/€249.99 Buds 4 Pro (not to be confused with the budget Redmi Buds 4 Pro), the company’s most premium audio product to date.

So, do they justify that high price? Despite a long list of positives, the short answer is no, although that’s primarily due to the strength of the competition. Read on to find out why.
The Redmi Buds 4 Pro are the latest true wireless earbuds from Redmi and follow in the footsteps of countless headphones from the Chinese manufacturer’s parent company, Xiaomi.

Offering high-resolution audio and decent customisability at an affordable price, the Buds 4 Pro are an appealing pair of budget earbuds. However, there is a major obstacle to their success: they lack an iOS companion app. This isn’t particularly surprising given Redmi phones run an operating system based on Android, but it does limit their appeal significantly.

If you own an Android device, the Redmi Buds 4 Pro are an impressive, cost-effective in-ear solution, but for everyone else, the inability to access control customisation and other useful features render them a damp squib.
Available in black or white, the Redmi Buds 4 Pro have a list price of £85 and can be picked up from Amazon or Xiaomi. They operate over Bluetooth 5.3 with support for the SBC and AAC codecs in addition to LDAC, which enables high-resolution streaming. That high-res capability positions the Buds 4 Pro ahead of many budget competitors, including the 1More Aero and JBL Live Pro 2.
