Shree Hanuman Chalisa - हनुमान for PC

Lord Hanuman is the embodiment of Divine Faith. He is invoked and worshipped by the Hanuman Chaaleesa—the glorification of Lord Hanuman in forty verses composed by Saint Tulsi Das.

It is believed that reciting Hanuman Chailsa is very powerful as it helps reduce the effects of Sade Sati, and also bring good health and prosperity. Hanuman Chalisa recitation can also help ward off spirits.

The song is called a Chalisa as it contains forty (Chalisa in Hindi) verses. The structure of the poem is extremely simple and rhythmic, thus making it all the more popular. The word "chālisā" is derived from "chālis" in Hindi, which means 40, as the Hanuman Chalisa has 40 verses.


Shri Hanuman is regarded as the God of power, strength and knowledge. He is known as the ‘param bhakt’ of lord Rama and is the incarnation of Lord Shiva. He was born to Kesari and Anjani on the Chaitra Shukla Purnima (Chaitra Shukla Purnima is the Full Moon Day on the Hindu Calendar Month of Chaitra) that is why, he is known as ‘KESERI NANDAN’ and ‘ANJANEYA’.
