Anto Sugiartono (10 April 1950 – 9 March 2012), known by his stage name Manthous, was an Indonesian singer-songwriter, artist and musician. He is considered to be the originator of the genre of Javanese popular music known as the campursari. Experience in Jakarta with B. J. Soepardi, Benyamin Sueb, Idris Sardi, Bing Slamet, Jaya Kwartet Group, and others. He then founded the Campursari Maju Lancar Group in Gunungkidul.
Manthous was born in Playen Village, Gunung Kidul, in 1950. In 1966, when he was 16 years old, Manthous ventured to go to Jakarta. Of course, with a junior high school educational background, his main choice was busking, which he considered represented his talent.
In 1969, he joined the Jakarta Keroncong Bintang Orchestra led by B. J. Soepardi as a string cellist. But then, in 1976, Manthous, who was also good at playing bass, founded the Bieb Blues band, characterized by funky rock, together with Bieb's son Benjamin Sueb. Bieb Blues lasted until 1980. He was the recorder for Musica Studio. Then, Manthous joined Idris Sardi, in Benyamin Sueb's Gambang Kromong group. In addition, previously he had also been an accompanist for Bing Slamet when he performed comedy in the Jaya Quartet Group. In 1990, he became acquainted with A. Riyanto who had a studio in Cepete, and often made recordings there.
