Eighty Thousand Steps for PC

Follow Crystal Chan as she uncovers a decades-old mystery. When she was young, Crystal loved when her grandmother—her “Pawpaw,” in Chinese—shared life lessons through a fable when the two walked together. Pawpaw transformed from an elderly woman into a magical storyteller, and Crystal from a shy, bullied immigrant kid into a noble hero. Now Crystal realizes Pawpaw was sharing her journey as a child refugee, hiding tragedy behind adventure. Two storylines intertwine: Crystal’s journalistic investigation and Pawpaw’s fable world. Listeners gradually explore the heartbreaking contrast between real violence and a child’s interpretation. As the listener walks to the grocery store or through a park, they’re forced to examine their steps and stories next to a refugee’s.
