The future of the metaverse is widely seen as promising, with experts predicting that it will become an important place for online activities, business and leisure.
The metaverse is expected to become a place where people can interact with virtual worlds in a more immersive way, using virtual and augmented reality. Companies will increasingly use the metaverse to offer virtual services and products, and to create unique brand experiences for users. The metaverse will be used for professional applications allowing companies to collaborate better.
If it is hardly possible for us to present a definition of VECOS, it is precisely because it constantly challenges the boundaries that seem to be assigned to it.
It is in this sense that VECOS inscribes its territory of action which is not precisely circumscribed. The practices escape from compartmentalization and go beyond all structures and pre-established scripts. It is a change in how we interact with technology. It consists of making us virtually immersed in a world through the use of the digital self or avatars. In other words, individuals are placed at the heart of the internet digitally interacting with other people within various environments that might parallel those that exist in the tangible world. Indeed, this new intangible territory could fundamentally change our way of being and existing thanks to the different fields of application and contexts of use.
Vecos contains within itself a multitude of possibilities, experiences, spaces, services, open, flexible, ubiquitous systems, which are called metaverses. Vecos includes things like creating virtual worlds, selling virtual items, online games, virtual and augmented reality, online communication, immersive experiences to buy and use virtual items and more.
We would like to point out that there is a difference between the concept of the Metaverse and the various metaverses that may arise from it, which exist and which are taking shape. Meta-universe or Metaverse to use the term in English, refers to all the technological, immersive and experiential possibilities allowing the creation of virtual universes and collective spaces favoring interaction, exchange, communication and sharing between individuals. This “metaversic” room for maneuver gives rise to various creations and contextualizations in order to include them in several fields (gaming, commerce, etc.), and link them to multiple societal and planetary issues: pedagogy, - business, environment, education, health, work, etc. Indeed, these multi-user virtual environments merge and intersect physical reality with digital virtuality. They are essentially based on the convergence of technologies that allow the inclusion of environments, people and digital artefacts in relation.
All of these dynamic interactions take place in real time, allowing transparent communication between the different actors/users. By projecting itself into this definition, the VECOS platform fits perfectly into this meaning. Thanks to the combined technologies, the platform aims to be interoperable, it continues to develop by operating crosses with what surrounds it. From exploration to familiarization, through the design and modeling of environments and digital artefacts, Vecos enables the creation of virtual worlds.
