Manzily is an educational game designed to raise awareness among the youth about energy
efficiency, water conservation and more broadly about sustainable lifestyles. It is designed for
users of age 7+.
The game engages young minds with interactive gameplay, guiding them through real-life
scenarios that highlight simple, impactful ways to save energy and water at home while
preserving indoor comfort.
Through engaging quizzes and challenges, users will learn a large range of improvement levers
that they can apply in their homes, from behavioural aspects to adjust their energy and water
consumption, to retrofit measures addressing appliances, equipment and building envelope.
The game develops across various rooms of a residential property, where the user is asked to
solve one of more questions by identifying relevant equipment in the room. When a room is
completed, the user gets awarded energy tip cards and one piece of a puzzle. There are nine
rooms in the achievement mode, and nine rooms in the upgrade mode. Upon completing all
the 18 rooms, the puzzle completes and turns into a certificate as Ambassador of
Sustainability.
The game is designed to make learning fun, encourage critical thinking in young users as they
engage with questions, and encourage those users to become change agents within their own
households and their broader community.
The app is largely the result of efforts of volunteer individuals and organizations coordinated
by Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, including over 30 residents of the UAE and a professional
game producer, Footprints Games, which developed the web version of the app, which was
then converted to a mobile app by the Electronic Government Authority of Ras Al Khaimah.
