Samsung QN95C review: a super-bright mini-LED TV that thinks it's an OLED
Samsung’s new flagship 4K TV keeps the mini-LED flag flying
Samsung remains the preeminent TV manufacturer when it comes to LCD, and while the brand triumphantly returned to OLED last year with the S95B, the major technological innovations and cutting-edge features have been saved for its QLED, and especially high-end Neo QLED models.

Samsung’s 4K flagship for 2023 is the QN95C Neo QLED TV, which offers an evolutionary leap in terms of its Mini LED backlight, doubling the number of dimmable zones compared to last year. It also includes quantum dots for purer colours, and AI-enhanced processing for a superior image.

The QN95C sports most of Samsung’s other high-tech features such as HDR10+, Dolby Atmos, comprehensive smart system, next-gen gaming features, and Object Tracking Sound Plus. An elegant design and screen sizes ranging from 55 to 85 inches rounds out an impressive package.
With almost twice as many local dimming zones to work with as its predecessor, the Samsung QN95C takes LCD’s handling of dark scenes to a new level. And it does so without compromising the dazzling brightness and color the best LCD TVs are renowned for. Getting the best from it can take a little work, but the ends spectacularly justify the means.

Samsung improves the top model
One of Samsung's very best TVs is back in a new 2023 version: the QN95C is an impressive viewing experience from every angle, but Samsung has also made some interesting changes.
Samsung’s TV range for 2023 is more extensive and wider than ever. The South Korean manufacturer now offers TVs from budget to high-end, with 4K or 8K resolution, QLED or OLED technology, and in screen sizes from 32 to 98 inches!

Among the most exciting models in the upper price range is the Neo QLED model QN95C. This is the flagship 4K QLED model and the successor to the QN95B, one of the best LCD TVs we tested last year.

With powerful MiniLED backlighting, an ultra-slim design and great connectivity, this will be a delight for the more discerning TV viewer. At the same time, however, something has happened that may disappoint some loyal Samsung users…

Samsung QN95C: A well-equipped and lavish flagship model

Samsung says they’ve fine-tuned the Quantum Matrix MiniLED technology in the QN95C for even better HDR performance. You get the highest performance and most of the smart features Samsung has to offer – second only to the 8K flagship model QN900C.

The QN95C series also comes in a wide range of screen sizes, from 55″ all the way up to 85″. We also note that the price has taken a slight jump since last year’s model.

Samsung’s latest Neo QLED 4K TV isn’t wildly different from last year's QN95B, but the QN95C offers enough advancements to not only elevate its performance compared to the previous generation, but also give even the best OLED TVs a run for their money in terms of black levels and contrast.

The key to this performance upgrade is a Mini LED backlight that doubles the number of dimming zones from last year, and when combined with Quantum Dots for purer colours and AI-enhanced processing, delivers SDR and HDR images that are often stunning in their visual impact.
The QN95C is now available for pre-order and comes in 55-, 65-, 75- and 85-inch screen sizes. The model reviewed here is the 65-inch QE65QN95C, which retails for £3,699 in the UK, and $3,299 in the US.
This Mini LED TV nearly doubles the number of dimming zones in its backlight compared to last year, producing HDR images capable of competing with, and often exceeding, the best OLEDs. Sadly the One Connect Box is gone, but a stylish design, solid build quality, comprehensive streaming apps, and extensive gaming support make this 4K TV hard to resist.
