The Messenger of Allah has reported that Allah has ninety-nine names, which whoever can memorize or count them, will enter heaven. With this hadith, the Prophet encouraged the scholars to collect these names in the hope of getting the reward that the Prophet had promised. However, none of the authentic hadiths detail the names in question. Even if someone details it, the history is weak. Details of the names of Allah referred to are scattered in the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet.

This book is interesting, because the author corrects many writings on this theme which are often methodologically incorrect. For example, they combine the meanings of Allah's names and attributes without first examining and understanding the true meaning of these names and attributes. Another form of error is being too fixated on examining evidence that points to linguistic meanings, and some even only mention briefly the explanation of a number of words but don't explain the main meaning.

In this book, Prof. Dr. Umar Sulaiman al-Asyqar, explains an important part that is missing from the discussion of similar books. Namely, an explanation of the meaning of the names and attributes of Allah, which is the most important objective of the theme of al-Asma al-Husna. This basic explanation is necessary, because with it a servant will know God and his Creator. In addition, they will be able to reach the level of understanding and know what He wants
