『A Passing Scholar』 is set in a virtual world with the motif of the three Eastern countries.

In this work, the fictional country "Sabaek" modeled after Joseon is the main background, and it introduces who a passing scholar "Mr. Kim" is and how he became a ghost hunter.

A heartless, noir-colored story with Korean folktales as a motif unfolds. Players must defeat the powerful monsters by tricking them through the insidious schemer “Mr. Kim.” Your weapons are lies, alienation, subtle distortion, and above all, “ruthless public power that does not tolerate abnormalities.”

※ About the main character
The main character of the story, “a passing scholar” or “Mr. Kim,” is a queer character and an aromantic intersexual. In the virtual country “Sabaek,” which is overly obsessed with normality, they are nothing short of monsters.
He captures and kills those who fall out of normalcy in order to survive. For that purpose, he also stands in solidarity with “abnormal people” like himself.
He is by no means a righteous protagonist, and conversely, the enemies players have to deal with are not absolutely evil.

『A Passing Scholar』 progresses by clearing each scene in order. The next scene may change as the story branch progresses.
You can also go back and watch scenes that have already passed. At this time, “facts that were not previously mentioned in the previous scene” are sometimes discussed. “Mr. Kim,” a passing scholar, has extraordinary intellect, but he is just an ordinary human being, so he needs the help of many people. A group of subordinates with strange and powerful abilities join Mr. Kim to fight against ghosts and goblins. Ghosts, world leaders, electric humans, super snipers, and other creatures who have fallen out of the standards of “normality” join the protagonist in order to kill and eliminate “abnormal” things. Use their strength to overcome difficult challenges.

※ Shoot it away
Mr. Kim’s nickname is “Goblin Butcher.” This is because they kill all the ghosts and goblins that harm the order of the country.
As you progress through the story, you reach a point where you have to shoot enemies to kill them. But choose carefully when you pull the trigger. The direction of the story is determined by who you shoot, and a misfired bullet can actually cause the main character to fail. Also, if the opportunity is right, there is a way to send the enemy alive.
